I’ve heard that Albrecht Duerer’s art would stand the weight of a lot of
scrutiny
, but this is ridiculous.

Except that Dürer’s original sketch does not include a rosary.

I am aware, but I wasn’t sure how to incorporate that into my joke.

I have had the distinct pleasure of seeing Dürer’s work in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich. No question, he is my favorite artist.

I saw a couple of his pieces there, and a piece or two when on loan to the High Museum in Atlanta. The first Dürer piece I remember seeing as a kid was the portrait of Heironymous Holzschuher (I think in National Geographic), and it absolutely blew me away.
At the time, I would have said exactly that - favorite artist, no question. Nowadays, I don’t feel like picking favorites to that point, but he’s been at a minimum in my top ten since childhood.

We had a coffee table book of Dürer’s work when I was young. I used to sit and stare at View of Delft . I still do.
